IVR stands for Interactive Voice Response. It is the system that takes most of our calls: "Welcome to our company. If you know your party's extension, please dial it now...".
Some virtual number suppliers allow you to set an IVR. You may want a simple IVR, that simply asks the user to wait while the call is connected, or more sophisticated prompts, like multiple extensions, voice-activated directories, voice mail, etc.
